Bible Reading: Joel 2:1-11
Key Verse: Verse 1 – “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;"
Key Words: Blow ye the trumpet in Zion
You read from God’s Word on several occasions about the sound or blowing of the trumpet. Trumpets were blown in Israel for one of three reasons. First, it signified the end of a work day. Secondly, it sounded at the beginning of a feast. Lastly, it sounded when war was on the horizon.
No doubt in Joel 2, the sound is in regard to the second coming of the Lord and His declarations of war upon His enemies.
Today, as believers, we as well wait for the sounding of a trumpet when we will be raptured from the earth and shall go and live forever with our Savior.
That trumpet signifies all three of the reasons a trumpet was blown. First, our work on earth is ended. Secondly, we go to a feast: the marriage supper of the Lamb. Third, when the Lord returns to earth to defeat the enemy and the trumpet sounds, we will be with Him (Revelation 19:11-16).
My prayer is, “Even so, come Lord Jesus, but give us grace to occupy until You do come.”
What to do:
✞It’s not a matter of “if” Jesus is coming again; it’s a matter of “when.”
