Just a few facts about Isaiah: He was a prophet of the Southern Kingdom, Judah, at the time the Northern Kingdom, Israel, was destroyed by the Assyrians. Isaiah lived in the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. His call was in the year of Uzziah's death, but some of his visions may have been earlier (see 6:1). He was slain, according to Jewish tradition, by Manasseh. Tentatively we may place his active ministry at about 745-695 B.C.
When we come to Isaiah chapter 28, the priests were mocking Isaiah, saying his message was for children.
If you read the book of Isaiah, you will quickly come to the conclusion that Isaiah’s message was not childish, and even if it were simple, what’s wrong with simplicity?
I once heard Evangelist Dave Turner say that he had the “kiss philosophy when it comes to preaching…K I S S… Keep It Simple, Stupid.
My dad used to say “What part of ‘thou shalt’ and ‘thou shalt not’ do you not understand?” There’s really nothing wrong with simple!!
Praise God for Isaiah!!
