Bible Reading: Micah 4
Key Verse: Verse 12 - “But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor."
Key Words: But they know not the thoughts of the LORD
Micah’s message was to both Israel and Judah, addressed primarily to their two respective capitals, Samaria and Jerusalem. Its three main ideas were: their sins, their destruction, and their restoration.
Intermingled with chapter 4 of Micah is Israel during the day of Micah and Israel in future prophecy. In verse 12 we see that as a result of Israel’s sin they do not know the thoughts of God.
Isaiah said in Isaiah 55:9, “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
Have you ever talked to one of those brilliant PhD-kind-of-people and you don't know what they're talking about? You know it’s deep, even though you don’t understand any of it because they’re just communicating on a whole different plane, on a whole different level.
At the heart of many of our dilemmas is our inability to know God’s ways. God says that as high as the heavens are above the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. They’re not only bigger, they’re higher. His thoughts are at another level.
So the answer to the question, What do they know? Not much, and they certainly don’t know God.
What to do:
✞ Ask yourself, “What do you know about God?”
