Daily Devotion: More Sin

Bible Reading: Hosea 13

Key Verse: Verse 2 - “And now they sin more and more, and have made them molten images of their silver, and idols according to their own understanding, all of it the work of the craftsmen: they say of them, Let the men that sacrifice kiss the calves.

Key Words: they sin more and more

Israel was already worshiping Baal and now they sinned even more by worshiping things made by hands.

Sin that goes unconfessed grows into the place where we worship anything and everything. If we fail to confess our sin, things will grow from worse to worst.

There is a great lesson to be learned from the dictionary. When things start going bad, we often fear they will only get worse. It seems the "worse" will take us to the "worst". To prevent the "worse" from turning in to the "worst" look at the unique set-up God has provided in the English language. Any standard dictionary will separate the words "worse" (and its derivatives) and "worst" with one special word – "worship." When circumstances seem to be slipping in the wrong direction, remember that worship is the buffer between "worse" and "worst".

Think about that one for a while!

What to do:
✞ Remember, the only thing that stands between worse and worst is worship.
