Bible Reading: Colossians 2:1-12
Key Verse: Verse 10 - "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:"
Key Words: ye are complete in him
Needless to say, we can never be spiritually mature without Christ in our life. That would be like trying to grow a garden without planting any seeds.
We mature spiritually as we walk in Him, as we are rooted in Him, and as we make ourselves aware of worldly philosophies and deceits that come from the tradition of men.
I don’t particularly care for apples even though we are told an apple a day keeps the doctor away. I know that apples are nutritious. I simply am not particularly fond of them... except when I can find one that has caramel on it…you know, the candied apples. They take the apple and dip it in liquid sugar. Then, me and apples, we are all right. The problem is that the way the apples have been prepared, the nutritional value has been destroyed. By mixing the apples with the sugar, things are now kind of messed up. The apples will hurt me now, not help me. When you mix human wisdom with divine wisdom, you cancel divine wisdom. All you have is human wisdom. That’s what the Bible calls being double-minded – being secular and sacred at the same time.
One will never mature in Christ until they are complete in Him alone. So may that be our goal: to be complete in Him.
What to do:
✞ Walk in Him, be rooted in Him, and avoid worldly philosophies. I know it’s easier said than done, but with Christ in us, all things are possible.
