As you read the verse from Hebrews, you see that in standing right, Moses rejected three things.
First of all, he rejected a position. He refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. As God’s people, we must understand that it is better to stand right than have a lofty position in this world gained because of not standing right.
Secondly, he rejected the pleasure of sin for a season.
Thirdly, he rejected prosperity of the world for the prosperity of eternity.
Faith not only grasps a hold, it also knows when to walk away.
It is very clear that Moses was not a person of pride: pride focuses on oneself. Moses could have never rejected a position, pleasure, or prosperity if he were filled with pride. Pride will always keep you from standing right. Mohammed Ali, probably the most famous boxer of all time, was on a plane. A flight attendant requested to Ali, “Sir, please fasten your seatbelt.” Ali responded, “Superman don’t need no seatbelt.” The flight attendant shot back, “Superman don’t need no plane either, fasten your seatbelt.”
Always remember, “He who sings his own praises is seldom asked for an encore.”
