Daily Devotion: ENOCH: A FAITH TO WALK RIGHT

Bible Reading: Genesis 5:18-24 and Hebrews 11:4-6

Key Verse: Genesis 5:24 – “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

Key Words: And Enoch walked with God

Have you ever studied the life of Enoch? Enoch is one of only two people who were ever said to walk with God; the other person was Noah.

Walking with God means to be in agreement with God. Amos said in Amos 3:3, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” If you are to walk with God, it takes both a sincere desire and a dedicated diligence.

I remember as a boy growing up in South Alabama, everyone had a garden.

We had a neighbor named Mildred who was very meticulous about her garden. She had no tiller, all she used was a hoe, and she would break up her garden which was about 75 feet in length and around 40 feet across. It was a good size garden. She would plant her plants in neat rows and water every individual plant by hand. As the vegetables would grow, she would go plant by plant, leaf by leaf, picking off every insect she would find. Oh, but her vegetables were some of the very best eating in South Alabama! Her corn was bright and yellow; her tomatoes were big, juicy and red. Her squash was some of the most beautiful your eyes would ever behold. The produce from her garden was second to none because of her painstaking effort. Now that’s diligence!

If we are ever going to walk with God, it will take the same desire on our part. Come to think of it, maybe that’s the reason only two men were ever said to walk with God. It’s not that others couldn’t; maybe they were not willing to pay the cost of what it would take to “walk with God by faith.”

So you can walk with God today, but it will take a whole lot of faith to keep walking. Do you have that kind of faith?

What to do:
✞Walk with God. It’s worth the price you’ll pay, and the rewards for doing so are immeasurable.
