These unnamed individuals who made God’s Hall of Faith will never be known this side of heaven; but through all their tribulations, they had faith to hope.
Self-made millionaire, Eugene Lang, greatly changed the lives of a 6th grade class in East Harlem. Mr. Lang had been asked to speak to a class of fifty-nine 6th graders. What would he say to inspire these students to stay in school and to have hope for the future? He wondered how he could get these predominantly black and Puerto-Rican children to even look at him, much less listen to him. Putting aside his notes he decided to speak to them from his heart. “Stay in school,” he said, “and I’ll help pay the college tuition for every one of you!” At that moment the lives of these students changed. For the first time they had hope. One student said, “I have something to look forward to, something waiting for me. It was a golden moment.” Nearly 90% of that 6th grade class went on to finish high school, because they had something to hope for.
These saints of God had even a greater hope than college – they had the hope of heaven and the hope of eternal life. They had the faith to hope.
Today, in your life if all seems lost, I challenge you to have the faith to hope – to hope for the Lord’s return, the hope of heaven, and the hope of eternal life. Never lose hope!!
