Daily Devotion: JOSEPH: A FAITH TO BELIEVE RIGHT

Bible Reading: Genesis 50 & Hebrews 11:22

Key Verse: Genesis 50:25 – “And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence.

Key Words: God will surely visit you

What is faith? Faith is taking God at His Word, in spite of my feelings, circumstances, or consequences. Joseph was taking God at His Word that his people would possess the Promised Land. Not only that, but Joseph was so certain of it he even gave a command concerning his bones.

D. L. Moody said in regard to faith: “Some say that faith is the gift of God. So is the air, but you have to breathe it; so is bread, but you have to eat it. Some are wanting some kind of miraculous kind of feeling. That is not faith. ‘Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God’ (Romans 10:17). That is whence faith comes. It is not for me to sit down and wait for faith to come stealing over me with a strong sensation, but is for me to take God at His Word.”

Napoleon was on a horse that went wild and was about to toss him. A private in his army saw what was happening and hastened to steady the General’s horse. Napoleon looked at the young private and said, “Thank you, Captain.” The young man replied, “Of what battalion, Sir?” “My personal guard,” was Napoleon’s response.

That’s how we live by faith and simply obey the orders of God as found in His Word. May God bless you, and He will as you live by faith.

What to do:
✞ Know God’s Word. You can’t live by faith without it.
