Daily Devotion: The Right Knowledge

Bible Reading: Proverbs 2:1-9

Key Verse: Verse 5 - Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.”

Key Words: and find the knowledge of God

We, as Americans, like to keep up with interesting tidbits of information—things such as:

  • The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime-time television was Fred and Wilma Flintstone;

  • Coca-Cola was originally in a green tinted bottle;

  • Everyday more money is printed for Monopoly than for the United States Treasury;

  • On average, men can read smaller print than women can; but women can hear better than men;

  • The state with the highest percentage of people who walk to work is Alaska;

  • The percentage of Africa that is wilderness is 28%, the percentage of North America that is wilderness is 38%;

  • The average cost of raising a medium-sized dog to the age of seven is $6,400.00;

  • The average number of people airborne over the U.S. at any given hour is 61,000;

  • Intelligent people have more zinc and copper in their hair;

  • The youngest pope was eleven years old.

Now, while having all these facts may be interesting, the knowledge really accomplishes very little. But there is a knowledge that accomplishes much, and Paul tells us about this knowledge in I Timothy 2:1-4, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”

My prayer today is that each of you reading this article have been born again and have come to the knowledge of the truth; for it is really the only knowledge that will matter when we stand before the Lord!!

What to do:
Be sure you are born again. (We have a staff that is willing to talk with you anytime.)
Major on Godly knowledge from God’s Word.
Apply Godly knowledge on a daily basis. (Applied knowledge is called wisdom.)
