Several things are brought to our attention in regard to Hezekiah’s sickness. First of all, it was a severe problem: his sickness was “unto death.” Secondly, we see God’s plan: “set your house in order.” But we also see Hezekiah’s prayer which basically involved three things.
- “Lord, I have walked before thee in truth with a perfect heart.”
- “I have done that which is good in thy sight.” I’ve lived to please you, not men.
- He also prayed with a contrite spirit. He wept sore as a result of not just his prayer but his life.
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “The supreme quality of life comes from integrity. Without it, no real success is possible. No matter whether it be on a football field or in an Army office, if a man’s associates find that he lacks integrity, he is bound for failure.” Your words and your actions must match.
So it is with our prayers as well: our words and actions must match. Do yours?
