Daily Devotion: Double O - Optimism

Bible Reading: Mark 5:35-43

Key Verse: Verse 39 – “And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.

Key Words: the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth

While everyone around Jesus was pessimistic, Jesus was optimistic; He knew the girl would rise again.

Someone said that an optimist is like the lady who put her shoes on when the preacher said, “Now in conclusion.”

A man stopped to watch a Little League baseball game. He asked one of the youngsters what the score was.

“We’re behind eighteen to nothing,” was the answer.

“Well,” said the man, “I must say you don’t look discouraged.”

“Discouraged?” the boy said, puzzled. “Why should we be discouraged? We haven’t come to bat yet.”

A pessimist says the rain will make mud; the optimist says it will lay the dust. The optimist says, “I am better today”; the pessimist says, “I was worse yesterday.” The optimist says, “I’m glad I’m alive”; the pessimist says, “I’m sorry I must die.” The optimist discovers some good even in evil; the pessimist finds some evil even in good.

Today, we can look at the world and all of it in turmoil and be pessimistic, or we can look to Jesus and know that God is in control. The choice is yours. Which will you choose?

What to do:
