In our text, a rich
ruler comes to Jesus and does three things:
1. runs to Jesus,
2. kneels before Him, and
3. addresses Him as Good Master.
Jesus responds by
asking a question, “Why callest thou me good?
there is none good but one, that is, God.” The word good in our text is a reference
to “having the power to give eternal life.”
So Jesus was asking the rich man if he was acknowledging that Jesus was
the Way to eternal life – which He is!

What to do:
✞ Acknowledge that only God can give eternal life and choose to do so through His Son, Jesus Christ. ✞ Acknowledge the goodness of God in daily life. (None of us deserve the blessings we have.)
