Daily Devotion: A Biblical View of Global Warming

Bible Reading: II Peter 3:1-13

Key Verse: Verse 10 - “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Key Words: shall melt with fervent heat

You can’t read, watch, or listen today without hearing about global warming. Former Vice-President Al Gore and other humanists have seen to that. Did you know that Global warming is the increase of the earth’s temperature caused by the release of CO2 gases (dioxide gases) into the earth’s atmosphere which is said to be causing a “greenhouse” effect?

If you listen to those (some) in the field of meteorology, they will tell you that the earth’s temperature is rising at an enormous rate and this will result in a deterioration of our health, our weather, our economy, and our ecosystem. But are you aware that over the last 125 years the temperature has only risen by 5.5 degrees? That’s an average of about one degree every 22 ¾ years.

We are told that over the next 92 years the temperature will rise another 12 degrees. The National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration, by their own admission, tell us that they cannot predict the weather with any accuracy more than 5 to 10 days in advance. Now if they can’t forecast the weather 10 days in advance, how can they forecast the temperature 92 years from now?

Did you know that only 13% of all meteorologists believe in global warming caused by dioxide gases? That means 87% of their fellow meteorologists disagree with the theory of global warming. Now, I do believe that there is a global warming coming, but not one caused by CO2 gases. The global warming will be a result of God’s judgment. We read in II Peter 3:10, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

Now, that’s real global warming! I challenge you to not fall prey to all that the humanists of the world are saying, but rather look at things from a Biblical world view. It’s the Biblical world view where you will find truth, security, and peace.
