Daily Devotion: Christians Seeking The Will Of God

Bible Reading: I Thessalonians 4

Key Verse: Verse 3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:”

Key Words: For this is the will of God

There is only one way to bring peace to the heart, joy to the mind, and beauty to the life: it is to accept and do the will of God.” ~ William Barclay

There was a story of two young men who were attending their college’s camp at Catalina Island. They went hiking one sunny, hot afternoon to the top of a ridge of mountains. They were thirsty and didn’t have any water with them, so they were glad to see a beautiful, blue lake in the valley a few hundred yards below them. They hiked down the mountain very fast to get a drink, but when they got to the bottom of the hill and walked to the lake, the whole shore was muddy and hundreds of green slimy frogs jumped into the water. They saw that it wasn’t such good water after all; it was very muddy. So they went without their drink.

Sometimes we see something that looks so good that we believe it must be God’s plan for us. But it is not always what it seems to be. We need the guidance of the Spirit to show us if it is really God’s plan for us.

Christians want to know and do the will of God for their lives.

What to do:

“If you are not willing to be used by God, then ask God to make you willing.’ ~ .B. Meyer
