Daily Devotion: Christians On God’s Power

Bible Reading: Acts 1:1-11

Key Verse: Verse 8 – “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Key Words: But you shall receive power

A believer that resembles Christ will have the power of God in their life. This is primarily evidenced through their daily witness to others. But we must be careful to be “a Christian!” Remember a Christian is one who is born again and desires to resemble Christ in the daily walk through their life.

In Kentucky the electricity used over a wide area is generated from the power furnished by the Kentucky River. One night the power failed. All lights were out – no electricity. The engineer tested the power plant, but could find nothing wrong with the turbines. They were still operative; but still there was no electricity. Hours later a wader discovered a black snake which had crawled across some main power lines, killing the snake but causing an outage in power.

As Christians we need to be on constant alert lest some “black snake” comes wiggling its way into our lives and causes an outage of God’s power.

What to do:

✞ I know the depth of my Christianity by the desire of my heart to be a witness.
