Daily Devotion: He Giveth More

Bible Reading: Romans 6:1-10

Key Verse: Verse 1 - “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Key Words: that grace may abound

Paul asked the question, “Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?” and of course, the answer is no. Then we read in Romans 5:20, “But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

I am reminded of a man who loved to jog. One day he went out for his run but got a later start. As he was about halfway through his run he noticed darkness approaching rapidly so he took a short cut through the cemetery. Darkness overtook him and he could not see. Unbeknownst to him a grave had been opened in preparation for a funeral the next day. Well, you guessed it! He fell into the open pit. He tried his best to get out of the hole but to no avail. So he sat down in the corner of the grave and was going to wait until morning when someone would come and get him out. It was then he heard another jogger running through the cemetery, coming closer and closer to where he was. Just as he was about to yell for help, the coming jogger fell into the same grave. He tried and tried to get out as well, with the first jogger looking on quietly. Finally, the first jogger decided he would say something. He said, “You can’t get out.” But he did!!

That is God’s grace! When you can’t get out, He is always there to help. That’s the grace of God that just keeps on giving.

What to do:
✞ There is no hole too deep and no problem too great that God’s grace cannot get you out.
