Daily Devotion: Who Are You?

Bible Reading: I Corinthians 3:1-8

Key Verse: Verse 5 – “Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?"

Key Words: Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos

Have you ever considered who you are in Christ? You are His child, servant, soldier, laborer, disciple, sheep—and the list goes on and on.

But really—who are you? Who am I? We are ministers of the Lord. We are here for His good pleasure.

One person said, “Here are some of the comments I’ve heard after the service—“
  • You always manage to find a way to fill up the time.
  • I don’t care what they say; I like your sermons.
  • If I’d known you were going to be good today, I would have invited a visitor.
  • Did you know there are 243 panes of glass in the windows?
  • We shouldn’t make you preach so often.
If we let comments from the congregation intimidate us, we begin to minister for the people, which is wrong, to say the least. We minister to the people for God.

So popular and effective was Campbell Morgan’s ministry, that he was given all kinds of offers from many different places and people. John Wanamaker, the great merchant of Philadelphia, offered to build Morgan a million dollar church if he would become its pastor. Morgan turned him down, something the wealthy Wanamaker was not accustomed to in his dealings with people.

“I am God’s man,” said Morgan. “If I did that, I would become John Wanamaker’s man.”

So whose “man” or “woman” are you?
