Daily Devotion: Challenge of Falsely Accusing

Bible Reading: Luke 3:1-14

Key Verse: Verse 14And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.”

Key Words: accuse any falsely

Have you ever had someone falsely accuse you, not before you but to others?  We are bad about throwing around accusations that could never be proven.  (Remember, “A fool uttereth all his mind.”)  Be careful with words of accusation; you may have to eat them.

John was driving home late one night when he picked up a hitchhiker. As they rode along, he began to be suspicious of his passenger. John checked to see if his wallet was safe in the pocket of his coat that was on the seat between them, but it wasn't there! So he slammed on the brakes, ordered the hitchhiker out, and said, "Hand over the wallet immediately!" The frightened hitchhiker handed over a billfold, and John drove off. When he arrived home, he started to tell his wife about the experience, but she interrupted him, saying, "Before I forget, John, do you know that you left your wallet at home this morning?"   Uh-oh!!

What to do:
✞ Be careful with what you say.  Be careful about what you hear.
