Daily Devotion: Cheating

Bible Reading: Numbers 32:20-33

Key Verse: Verse 23– “But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out.”

Key Words: be sure your sin will find you out.

Hey young people, are you a cheater?  Parents, does your child cheat?

According to an ABC News prime-time poll, 43% of all young people ages 12-17 cheat on tests.

This raises the question as to why young people cheat.  The answer may shock you.

First, they cheat because of the pressure put on them by parents to make all As and Bs on their report card.

Secondly, they cheat because good grades are required to participate in such things as sports, student council, and other school groups and activities.

Thirdly, young people cheat because grades have everything to do with acceptance.  Only one-third of all parents teach.

Fourthly, the young people say that if they make good grades, teachers believe they won’t or don’t cheat.  Now, isn’t that strange?  You would think that that is where teachers would be looking for cheaters. The guy who makes the failing grade isn’t a cheater or at least he’s not good at it.  I wouldn’t worry about him. It’s that other guy I would concentrate on for they have a rough road ahead of them.

Some years ago a college athlete was discovered cheating on a thesis he was writing.  As a result, he was dismissed from school – no graduation, no more sports – time, money, energy wasted.  They young man later confessed, “I cheated my way into college and out of college.”

Five things to remember:

1.     You either have character or you are one.

2.    Reputation is precious, but character is priceless.

3.    Most tragedies are the result of someone cheating because they thought they could get away with it.

4.    The happiness of your life doesn’t depend upon your grades but your character.

5.   Cheaters never win, and winners never cheat.

What to do:
✞ Teach and learn that God always wants us to do   things His way.  His way is perfect!
