Bible
Key Verse: Verse 18 - “For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”
Key Words: The labourer is worthy of his reward
Just as
pastors are not perfect, neither are the people they pastor. Below are seven “mistakes” that can lead to
what I call “pastoral frustration.”
First,
an unappreciative attitude…seemingly not appreciating the good gospel music
which is both played and sang. When is
the last time you complimented those who play the instruments or those who sing
the specials?
Secondly,
a seeming lack of concern for church needs which can easily be seen through so
many individuals’ lack of financial giving.
I have often said, “Show me where you spend your money and I will show
you what you truly love.”
Thirdly,
a lack of proper priorities. So many who
say God is first in their lives don’t always show it. It seems that their church attendance is
often replaced by the secular events of life.
Fourth,
a lack of praying together as a congregation.
Each Wednesday we have prayer meeting which only about one out of every
three of our members attend and many of those do not stay for prayer time at
the end of the service.
Fifth,
fault-finding. It is easy to find faults
in a church ministry, but they that get me, as the pastor, are those who are
good at finding faults in others, never see their own faults. A word of caution: it’s always wiser to
remember that when one points out the faults of others, they will begin to try
to find your faults (and they will).
Sixth,
we sing the songs and hear the preaching, God pricks our hearts but some never
make things right, never go to the altar.
What a shame!
Seventh,
not so much a mistake as a word of love.
I feel like the Apostle Paul toward each of our members and even our
guests: “My love be with you all in
Christ Jesus.”
These are not complaints, just some mistakes the congregation can make, not just our congregation but every congregation.
What to do:✞ Pastors, don’t be frustrated. Remember, you’re not perfect either.
