Daily Devotion: Incarnation

Bible Reading: John 1:1-18

Key Verse: Verse 18 – No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”

Key Words: he (Jesus) hath declared him

The word incarnation means God in the flesh.  This is what Jesus came as – God in the flesh.

Jesus came in the flesh to die, be buried, and rise again.  But Jesus also came so we could understand God.

I once heard about a farmer plowing his field.  In the distance he saw an ant bed and cried out to the ants to move, but to no avail!  Again he cried, again no success.  Finally for the third and last time, he shouted out for the ants to move before the tractor dug up the bed destroying their home and killing the ants.  Now, let me ask you: why didn’t the ants respond to the cries of the farmer when he shouted for them to move?  The answer is simple: they didn’t understand.  That is why Jesus came – so we could understand God and what God has done for us in saving our lives and giving us the opportunity to have eternal life.

Aren’t you glad that Jesus came?  He did so to declare God.

What to do:
✞ Jesus is the Son of God.  He is also God the Son.
