Daily Devotion: Endurance

Bible Reading:  Matthew 10:16-24

Key Verse: Verse 22 - “And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.”

Key Words: he that endureth to the end

The word endureth means to stay at it, to remain while going through difficult times.

One of the soldiers of the army of the Potomac who took part in the battle of Gettysburg, who made that famous march from Manchester to Gettysburg, a distance of thirty-four miles, said that the march with the clouds of dust, the perspiration, the blood of chafed limbs trickling down into the shoes, was the hardest experience of the entire Civil War for him personally.  It is sometimes harder to march than it is to fight.  The test of endurance is the long march.  You have set out on a long march.  You will meet many others who have gone part of the way and turned back.  You will have by your side many others who are ready to quit and go back with you, if you will go with them.  But always there are some who are going steadily forward and who have no idea of anything but enduring to the end.  “…he that endureth to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 10:22).

Let me encourage you that when the journey of this life for Christ gets tough, and everything about you is saying “turn back,” I say to you: “stay at it…endure to the end.”

What to do:
✞ Endure!

P. S. Our salvation does not depend upon our enduring.  Salvation is the gift of God, Jesus Christ and believing on Him.  The “saved” in verse 22 is being delivered from the trials you are going through.
