Daily Devotion: Where Is Thy Brother?

Bible Reading: Genesis 4:9-18

Key Verse: Verse 9 - “And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother's keeper?"

Key Words: Where is Abel thy brother?

It’s interesting to note that Cain answered the Lord’s question with a question. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” The answer of course is yes. We do have a responsibility to our brother; not just ours ; not just our flesh and blood brother, but our brother in the Lord as well. (Deuteronomy 22:1-12) (James 2:15)

In 1992, Southwestern Bell Telephone Company started a new program called Call Completion. It is now a standard part of the phone company’s daily operation. If you call directory assistance for a phone number, they offer to complete the call for you by dialing the number and charging you thirty cents. Obviously, you can hang up and make the call yourself and save the three dimes. Nonetheless, nearly 8 percent of their customers use the service and generate an extra $2 million annually for the phone company. “Customer Convenience” is the buzz-phrase for today.

Significant numbers of people prefer to pay someone else to do what God has equipped them to do. Be your brother’s keeper.

What to do:
✞ Do you know where your brother in Christ that you’ve not seen for weeks is? You are your brother’s keeper.
