Bible Reading: Romans 13
Key Verse: Verse 4- "For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.”

John Stormer, in his book Betrayed by the Bench, writes about judges who are to be ministers for good. In one section he writes about the First Amendment.
The First Amendment guarantees freedom concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition.
"What about the 1st Amendment right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances? The Bible repeatedly invites and commands God’s people to bring their petitions to Him. The Lord Jesus gave those invitations in many places and many ways. Several are:
- Ask and it shall be given you (Matthew 7:7).
- What things soever you desire; when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them (Mark 11:24).
- And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do (John 14:13).
- Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full (John 16:23-24).
What about freedom of the press? Actually, there were no printing presses or newspapers when the Bible was written. But there is a self-evident concept which applies. Psalm 68:11 says: “The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.”
The principle is Biblical. God desires that His people distribute information. The right to do it is self-evident.
Our judges often oppose our God-given rights even though they place their hand on the “bible” and promise to uphold the law.
We need to pray for our politicians but we also need to vote for (when possible) righteous judges, and we must bathe them in prayer continually.
